Please note that individual trophies can only be awarded to players on teams U13 and older. Players on teams U12 and younger receive participation medals per the MSYSA policy below:
"Individual lst and 2nd place trophies may NOT be handed out to players in the age groups U12 and below. Participation awards for all players in these age groups are encouraged. Any tournament found guilty of this shall have their bond forfeited, and may be required to post a higher bond in subsequent years."


Attention teams with Dual Rostered players: please be aware that MSYSA Rule 3.6(c)2 requires that a player cannot play for more than one team in the same competition (tournament). This means a player cannot play for one team in the tournament and also guest play for a second team, or be a guest player on multiple teams. And it means dual rostered players can only play on one team or the other.

Hello Soccer Friends!

The Portage Soccer Club (Portage, Michigan) will be holding its 24th Annual Soccer Tournament on June 11-13th, 2010. The tournament is sanctioned by the United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA) and features full length games in all age divisions (from U9 to U19 for both boys and girls), a 3 referee system on all games except U9 and U10, and personalized trophies for all members of 1st and 2nd place teams.

Location: Portage, Michigan (suburban Kalamazoo) is located midway between Chicago and Detroit on Interstate 94 at U.S. 131, 30 minutes north of the Indiana border.

Team Factors: A maximum of 160 teams will be accepted in the tournament. Selection of teams will be based on record, early application, previous participation, geographic location, and team experience. Most teams will play 2 games on Saturday and 1 on Sunday with bracket winners advancing to semi-final or final games on Sunday; teams may also play Friday night (6:00 p.m. and later). Availability to play Friday night is appreciated.

Travel Permits: All out of state teams require approved applications to travel from their state organization.

Risk Management: All coaches, assistant coaches, managers and any other volunteer on the team sideline must have a valid Risk Management card from their state association.

Facilities: Games will be played on regulation grass fields at our premier Soccer Complex and 2 additional sites located close by.

Housing: Tournament hotels have been blocked for your convenience and are available through Premier Sports Events, our official housing service. Entry Fee: The tournament entry fee is $375 (U9 and U10), $400 (U11 and U12) and $425 (U13 and up). Send your application and fee as soon as possible, but no later than May 15, 2010. Preference will be given to teams that apply early! Acceptance letters will be mailed by early May; there will be no refunds after teams are accepted.

Awards: Individual personalized trophies will be awarded to each member of champion and runner-up teams in the U13 through U19 divisions; team trophies for U9 through and U12 divisions and individual participation awards for all players in the U9-U12 divisions.
